The 18-hole, par-71 Bogor Raya golf course was designed by Australian Graham Marsh in a natural setting with mature trees, flower beds, rivers and lakes. Through excellent maintenance and attention to detail the course has been transformed into a tropical garden with more varieties of fauna than any other course in the area. Here golf is played in amidst spectacular views and mountains in the distance.
Towering pine trees line the course and all the holes are interestingly named after different types of native trees. There are many interesting holes and the golf course is suited to all levels of golfers. Good ball striking is rewarded with gold scores on this fair and fun designed course. Long hitters will really enjoy the course as the landing areas are wide and the fairways for the most part bowl-shaped. Green surroundings are more difficult making accurate approaches a must.
Rancamaya Golf and Country Club is located 20 minutes from Bogor. The Ted Robinson designed golf course has spectacular volcano views of the extinct Mount Salak. In addition there are some excellent holes that for the most part play in a stadium-like arrangement making for many good scoring opportunities. The Bogor golf course is 450 meters above sea level. This altitude ensures for pleasant year-round golfing weather and helps balls fly one club further than at sea level.
Rancamaya Golf & Country Club incorporates a series of lakes connected by small waterfalls. The soothing sound of moving water on most holes is a relaxing when playing. Multiple teeing areas, strategically placed hazards and large greens all add to the enjoyment of golfing at Rancamaya.
Sentul Highlands is a great course designed by the Black Knight, the great Gary Player. It makes good use of the hilly terrain with most holes having a panoramic view of Gunung Salak and the Bogor Hills.
Designed to be a championship course, there are many different sets of tees to accommodate players of all abilities. Tee shots at Sentul Highlands reward precision over distance to properly hit the blind fairways with tight landing areas. Picking a spot on the horizon on tee shots is no easy task.Greens are mostly small with subtle breaks, some of which are well-protected by deep bunkers. Back-dropped by several mountains that overlook the stunning “Sentul Highlands”, playing this challenging course comes with sweeping vistas in nearly every direction.
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, this 27-hole venue has played host to several Indonesian Opens, the Johnnie Walker Super Tour, Dunhill Asian Masters and the Volvo Masters Asia.
The club is set against a backdrop of the stunning foothills of Gunung Putri. The 27-hole Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus designed courses offer a variety of interesting and challenging playing conditions.
Comprising of the Lake Nine and the River Nine, the Palmer-designed 18 is a playable, expertly maintained layout that challenges the player while never beating him up. Each golfer should carefully select from the 5 sets tees to be able to both enjoy the course to its fullest and have a good level of challenge. These nines taken together for a picturesque course and are laid out on rolling topography perfectly suited to captivating golf.
Gunung Geulis, which means beautiful mountain in the Indonesian, is bounded rivers and mountains. There are 36 holes on offer, with the original West Course opened in 1992, and the newer East Course which opened in 1994. Both courses were designed by Thomson, Wolveridge and Perret, world famous Australian golf course designers.
Measuring 6,075 meters, the West Course requires good course management and club selection to score well. The course appeals to low markers as each poses a challenge. Doglegs, sand traps, water, trees, or waste areas come into play all through the course.
The Gunung Geulis East Course plays to 6,065 meters and is too hilly to walk. The front 9 or Valley Course is undulating, following the contour of the hills. The back 9 Hill Course is gentler with wider fairways wider. The course has a distinctive British links style. Fairways are up and down, with allot of movement and carefully placed bunkers. Both courses are worth playing.
Riverside Golf Club is the most stunning and dramatic 18-hole par 72 championship course set along the Cikeas River within the beautiful province of Bogor, Indonesia. Designed by golf legend and great white shark Greg Norman, the 90 hectare site offers players of all levels an adrenaline-charged ride in a setting of lush natural greenery.
Ninety hectares of jungle with the dramatic topography was used to create Riverside Golf Club. Fairways are generally rolling with areas of open spaces for landing. Many of the holes though play over ravines and cross rivers and streams. Most greens are protected by large stands of trees and lush forest.
Located in the Sentul highlands and near the green city of Bogor, the gently undulated Palm Hill 18 holes course is an incredibly attractive layout. It is surrounded by hills that lead towards Mount Salak. Designed by Tom Matteson and developed by Japan’s Taisei Corporation, this friendly course offers players a layout that allows playing back stray shots from nearly every adjacent fairway.
A boulder-rich river separates holes 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 from the other holes. Water has to be crossed on holes 7, 11, 13 and 15 while on holes 5, 7, 9 and 18 water comes into play from either the tee box or landing area.
Like all the courses in the Bogor region, this course offers marvelous views. In the rainy season the river can turn into a ferociously running body of water that is awesome to watch. From a distance Mount Salak majestically looks down on the course, which fairways are home to Bermuda grass.
