This Vietnam golf course is challenging yet provides a relaxing golf day for those visiting Vietnam for a golf vacation or Vietnam golf tour.

#4 Twin Doves Golf Club

Background - ABOUT

Located 60 minutes from Ho Chi Minh City Centre you will find the 27 holes international championship Twin Doves Members Golf Club. The Golf Course has a natural environment and has three nines known as Luna, Mare, and Sole. With the outlook of the non-urban Vietnam landscapes the Luna Course is recognized by many little mountains and nearby jungles. This course has mixed all the organic forms of the area which are used as complicated risks. 5 of the holes are linked by moving mountains and the rest are divided by  tree-lined fairways.

The Mare Course is more organic with all holes between streams and plants. However, do not let the organic feeling deceive you into a sense of contentment. Precise shot taken is crucial to rank well. Most of the greens are multi-tiered and covered by water risks, creating shot  precision once again extremely important for a good ranking. The Mare Course is the most interesting of the 3 nines.

The Sole Golf Course attribute island green, coast bunkers, and performs around a blue lake. This makes the 9 both creatively eye-catching and complicated. Also exclusive to this nine is the use of 7 par-4’s and only one each, par-three and par-five.  Most players want to avoid the Sole Course for this other redirecting.  In any case, this nine is still noticeable with a sequence of natural water hazards and difficulties.

#5 Vietnam Golf & Country Club

Vietnam Golf & Country Club has two 18 hole championship length golf courses. Located just 20 kilometers from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Golf and Country Club is also the nearest golf club to Ho Chi Minh and is one of the most reputable golf courses in Vietnam.

Set amongst 300 hectares of land, these two great golf courses in Vietnam have been carved out of the existing woodland with minimal land movement, leaving you feel that the land was always destined to be a golf course, so natural is the layout and design. If you’re planning on visiting Ho Chi Minh, for golf or otherwise, Vietnam Golf & Country Club is a smart choice for both serious and recreational golfers.

Open since November 1995, the 7,106-yard West Course at Vietnam Golf & Country Club features narrow tree-lined fairways and fast smooth greens. The Par 72 Championship Course hosted the Vietnam Open (Asian PGA Tour Event) in both 1995 and 1997. The course winds its way through the trees offering challenging tee shots to the tree lined fairways before playing to the softly contoured Bermuda Tifeagle greens, which provide beautiful putting surfaces all year round.

The West Course’s difficulty lies in its championship length. Only single-digit handicap players are permitted to play off the Gold Tees and even from the normal men’s tees, this course can provide a very long afternoon to golfers of all abilities if their drives are not on target.

#6 Song Be Golf Resort

Song Be Golf Resort was Vietnam’s first international championship golf course and is widely regarded as one of the most challenging layouts in the country. This Vietnam golf resort was built in 1994 out of the natural landscape of fruit orchards and coconut palms. In 1995 the Song Be golf course was officially rated in accordance with the USGA/SGA requirements.

Song Be Golf Resort in Ho Chi Minh now has 3-Nine holes course, the Lotus Course, Palm Course and the newest and most demanding addition – the Desert Course. Each golf course has its own uniqueness and challenges featuring many lakes, natural bush reserves and large undulating greens. The most challenging of all these Vietnam golf courses is the Desert Course with long and narrow fairways, an array of complex bunkering and abundance of sand that requires a high degree of straight hitting and strategic thinking from golfers on a Vietnam golf vacation.

Taekwang Jeongsan Country Club is location on its own island in the Saigon River. Travel to the Ho Chi Minh City golf course requires golfers to travel out of the city on Vietnam’s main north-south highway and take a ferry across the Saigon River. All in it takes around 90 minute to reach the golf course from the main hotel districts in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 18-hole Korean owned course was developed by Ron Fream’s Golfplan Company from the USA. The out and back layout is typical of top resort courses. The tips stretch out to over 7500 yards, but there are forward tees for those looking for a more relaxed round of golf.

Heavy bunkering on most holes of this otherwise flattish land adds interest and enjoyment throughout the golf course and poses challenges even for the most serious professional golfers. Wall-to-wall Paspalum grassed fairways, greens, and tees insure good conditions and favorable ball lies.

The front nine plays along the river with some excellent views to the right of several holes. Holes 9 and 18 are the two signature holes with 9 being a long par-4 and 18 being a dogleg par-5. Both play right to the clubhouse so make sure to play the correct green. Both holes share a bunker between the number 9 green (left) and number 18 green (right). Playing on the Out (Sun Course) and In (Moon Course) ends up a very overall enjoyable day out golfing in Saigon.

The Greg Norman designed Bluffs Ho Tram Strip golf course is located 80 kilometers southeast of Ho Chi Minh City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on the southern Vietnamese coastline. It takes around 2 hours to reach by a mix of highway and local roads from Ho Chi Minh City. The Bluffs Ho Tram is a unique links style par-71 golf course on a rugged site often accompanied by strong onshore breezes.

In fact, the Bluffs Ho Tram Strip has some of the best geographical traits for a top golf course layout. For example, the whole site sits on a coastal plateau with 50 meter elevation changes from the highest to lowest point and holes are routed among towering seaside sand dunes. The course was built on sandy loam soil with native crawling vegetation. This creates excellent drainage and turf conditions. Next, being exposed to high sea winds at certain times through the year plays havoc and creates extreme challenge for even the best seasoned golfers. The links course also makes for a golf experience that’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is a challenge.

While the highest point of the rugged, windswept property is 50 meters above sea level, on the 15th green, one of the most spectacular spots comes earlier in the round, on the signature 4th hole. From here players are treated to a spectacular 360 degree view, including the course itself, the lush surrounding forest and wildlife, the expansive Vietnam coast, and the Grand Ho Tram Strip, Vietnam’s first integrated casino and golf resort.

#11 Tansonnhat Golf Club

Tansonnhat golf course is just located next to the busiest Tansonnhat International Airport in Hochiminh city and 7 kms from the down town with 25 minutes driving, half a kilometer away, on the other side of a security checkpoint. Its focal point is its clubhouse, the Him Lam Palace, a palatial building with marbled floors and an eight-tiered, gold-plated chandelier in its lobby. The hoisting palm trees on the course as a smattering of golfers tried their luck at the tees and putting greens. A plane thundered by every few minutes on the nearby runway.

After some disputes and different opinions on the project, the 36-hole course has been soft-opening in last December and going to have the grand opening in this September 2015. At this earlier stage, the 18 holes is ready for playing in the last 7 months and get the good comments from both local and international golfers.

#12 Tan Son Nhat Golf Course

Tan Son Nhat Golf Course is a public golf course located 4 kilometers from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Built across 156 hectares, the 36-hole Tan Son Nhat Golf Course borders the Tan Son Nhat Airport – the busiest in Vietnam.

Nelson & Haworth Golf Course Architects designed a top course out of the surrounding flattish land. Significant earth mounding, many water hazards, large bunkers, and undulating greens have been built on every hole. Paspalum turf used on the tees, fairway, rough, and greens ensure top year-round playing conditions. The Saigon golf course is a modern city layout.

Course A plays away from the clubhouse and in an area designated for apartments, villas and an on-site hotel. Course B, C and D all play around the existing clubhouse. Each nine is equally challenging and well-maintained. The par-5’s play long and mostly into the wind. The par-3’s offer good chances for par provided the greenside bunkers are avoided.

#13 Harmonie Golf Park

Located in the expanding northern suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City, Harmonie Golf Park is one of two courses next to one another. Opened in 2018, the 18 hole, par-72 championship course designed by Jim Engh is all Bermuda grassed, which is rare for modern sub-tropical courses. Tees and fairways have deep blue colored Celebration Bermuda, while greens have the mini-dwarf Tiff-Eagle grass. The grass ensures fast and consistent playing surfaces year-round.

The gently rolling site offers a great variety of holes from short par-4’s to monster par-5’s. Golfers of all skill levels can play the course by carefully selecting the appropriate set of tees to match each players distance. Water and rock features dominate the design which adds to the course interest and aesthetics. The signature hole is the 16th, which is a unique par-3, with a bowl-shaped green complex. Good looks its has, but with all balls funneled into the center, making par is a likely result.

Harmonie Park weaves its way in and around a luxury housing estate with each nine playing off to one side. The spaceship styled clubhouse sits in the middle of the whole project and offers golfers every convenience and amenity that may be needed. Overall, the golf experience at Harminie Park is first rate and while the distance from the Saigon center is a but long, its well worth the drive.
